Creative Industries

Who can enter the Creative Industries category?
All individuals, businesses and organisations in the creative sector are encouraged to apply.

This specialist category rewards initiative, talent, creativity and entrepreneurship across the creative industries, recognising the central role they play in the development of a competitive and sustainable creative economy.

Objectives of the Award

  • To inform the Northland creative sector to the opportunities that thrive within, Whangarei, Kaipara and Far North districts whilst showcasing and rewarding those that work, live and play in the region.
  • To better understand the dynamics of being an entrepreneur in the creative economy
  • To showcase Creative Industries business such as visual and performing arts, music, film and script, publishing, television, architecture, design, advertising and digital technology including gaming and fashion.

The winner of this award will receive the following value added promotional items courtesy of Creative Northland:

  • Free listing in the Artists Database
  • 20% discount on the advertising fee in the Northland Arts Guide
  • “Spotlight On” feature on the Creative Northland webpage

All entrants of this category should read the Creative Industries Entry Guidelines 2017 prior to entering.


Entrant Workshop

To make the process of entering as easy as possible, a Creative Industries Entrant Workshop has been organised to clarify the entry process and provide some insight to what the judges are looking for. The workshop will be run by Creative Northland, Business Coaching NZ and the NZ Chambers of Commerce Northland.
