One of Council’s roles is enabling sustainable economic development. We want Whangarei to be a destination where people choose to live, work, invest and play.
Council is a major contributor to the local economy. We turn over more than $130 million a year, employ more than 300 staff and contract many local businesses. To do this well it is vital that we get the best result out of every ratepayer dollar, so we constantly examine our efficiency and effectiveness and how we can “do things better”.
