These awards are seen by the Chamber of Commerce as a valuable business development tool. As part of the Westpac Northland Business Excellence Awards process this year, entrants were offered complimentary advice on completing their entries from Business Coaching New Zealand who advised them of the process and what the judges would be looking for. Entries for the 2010 Westpac Northland Business Excellence Awards have now closed and judging is well under way.
The Westpac Northland Business Awards are the biggest business related event of the year. They are also the main fundraising activity for the Northland Chamber of Commerce, who are a non-profit organisation which exists to offer support and opportunities to Northland businesses. As such, it relies on membership fees and fundraising activities such as these awards to operate and the Business Awards contribute significantly to the Chamber’s operating revenue.
The fact that Northland businesses have remained consistent this year in their support and involvement with the Awards is a very positive sign for the future. Irrespective of the economic downturn, entry levels have held up well, with a slight improvement in entrant numbers compared to last year. Sponsorship support has also been strong once again this year, with industry leaders taking on category sponsorships and other proactive businesses contributing their products and services to enable this event to be put on to the high standard it has become known for.
