NorthTec Excellence in Technology/Innovation Award

Who can enter the Technology/Innovation category?
All Northland-based businesses that have been trading for 12 months or
longer may enter the NorthTec Excellence in Technology/Innovation
Award.
What are the judges looking for in this category?
The judges are seeking to recognise a business that has enhanced its
success through innovation and technology, both in thinking of the
innovative ideas, implementing them and using technology to achieve a
competitive advantage. Innovation can be a new or existing
product/service/process or be the technology itself.
Evaluation criteria:
• How the innovation was identified, introduced & how it is
different or novel
• How you are fostering innovation and your plans for ongoing
leverage of the technology to support continued business
growth
• Entrepreneurial skills displayed, risks taken and how you have
managed the risk
• Your competitive edge, growth and potential growth as a result
of innovation and use of technology
• Intellectual property/protection/patents that apply or have been
considered (if the technology is self-developed)
